r2d2 blend
I couldn't find the photo of R2D2 that the person to the left of me used, so I tried to freehand. Then, since there was nothing to blend with for bottom and right, I made it blue and put in a pic of George Lucas. (blue) off the starwars website. What do you think? I was going to do some freehand work, but I did that on the last few tiles, and wanted something different. I think I did a good job of blending, taking into account the styles of the other artists. My own artwork, however, could use some improvement.
Re: r2d2 blend
Still pretty abrupt on the top tile and the black, in the top left corner, could have been smoothed into your tile more but otherwise it's a decent job.
Re: Re: r2d2 blend
it is an abrupt end on the top, but with what I worked with, it should look good. The black was actually a dark blue, and it was tough. I try to pixel all my graphics, so that's hand blended you see there.
No blending
.
misunderstanding?
Heya,
A clarification on the blending issue.
You've managed to get the seamless edges and colour matching down pat, however that's not all there is to blending. The idea is to make the entire image flow. While you have drawn the blue from the top left, the black background behind R2 would have been a more appropriate colour for the background of this image. It would have been nice to see the theme at the top extended further down as well.
Try to use the colours and shapes of the given edges to work out a coherent visual theme for your tile. Don't just end them a few pixels in and start on something completely different (even if it is vaguely conceptually linked, part of the aim here is to get a seamless visual whole over the entire quilt - you are just shifting the seams around so far)

Re: misunderstanding?
Wow, that was a much more successful explaination than I've been able to give so far. I guess that's why you're the expert and I'm still the Newbie :) Thanks for stopping by to clear some of these issues up for us.
Re: misunderstanding?
thank you. I think I understand now.
Sorry for not giving more.
I wanted to see if anyone would blend "that much" of R2D2 into their tile but it looks like you guessed what it was buy just the fiw pixels. :P
I give 2 thumbs up for keeping with the theme.

Re: Sorry for not giving more.
how many times do people have to repeat:
THERE. IS. NO. THEME.
THERE. IS. NO. THEME.
Re: Re: Sorry for not giving more.
I think he meant just keeping with the adjacent tile themes.. there ends up mini themes within quilts a lot of times even if the quilt itself isn't themed.
