You just need to be a little more careful when blending into other tiles. Your score will get better if you do that. :)
3 way blending
Also, you picked a rather difficult tile for your first one, having a completed tile on 3 sides. Stick to 1 or 2 tile blends until you get the hang of it, it will go easier when you only have to worry about one side to blend with.
