Extending a color from an edge a few pixels into a tile and then smudging it is not the best way to blend to a neighboring tile. A more effective way to blend to an edge like this is to continue the colors well into the tile and use it as the background for whatever you want to paint over it; this method makes a more logical continuous image that builds on the work of the neighboring tile. Second tip: when painting a tile with only one edge to blend to, a tiler has a lot of creative freedom to introduce new colors, textures and themes into the quilt. This tile could have taken much greater advantage of this opportunity by creating a more dynamic background and extending more figures beyond the edge of the tile.
