Comment: It's a first attempt, I did it with a mouse, and I'm a Computer Science major with an Acting minor and little drawing ability. It shows, but hey, what's the harm in trying?

you may have realized this by now, but...
you need to draw beyond the edge of your tile, so when it is cropped your neighbors can smoothly blend into your tile. Notice the line that surrounds your tile, that line is on your tile and shows where you stopped drawing a couple pixels short of the edge. Another tip is to avoid placing, near a border, a line perpendicular to the tile edge. I drew the tile to the left of yours. Both the, one pixel wide, light grey line along the bottom left edge and the purplish blue line that runs nearly the entire length of the same edge made it very difficult for me to blend our tiles smoothly.

Good advice.
Another tip is to either use small brushes or overwrite large brushes with small ones, because the best tiles are finely detailed and you can't get that with a large brush. Additionally, it's usually best if the individual brushstrokes are not visible.
