Nice, it reminds me of a Robert Johnson lyric, "squeeze my lemon, baby, till the juice runs down my leg." Maybe someone could use that line for another tile. :)
squeeze my lemon, baby
i'm an old old Led Zeppelin fan, so i found this an interesting post. Led Zeppelin II was probably the first LP in my collection. LP's were way back before mp3's, cd's, cassettes and 8 tracks btw, for anyone who wonders :o))
anyway, who is/was Robert Johnson?... Robert Plant was the name of the vocalist in LZ, and he was really into the blues. credit for the lyrics on "the lemon song" however, was given to a blues man named Chester Burnett.
ok, more than anyone wanted to know right? peace

Re: squeeze my lemon, baby
Robert Johnson was also an old blues man. I guess we've got crossed information. Here is a link to the lyrics of Johnson which contains that line: Traveling Riverside Blues. To be honest, I really don't know a lot about either "Howlin' Wolf" or Johnson. The first time I heard the "squeeze my lemon" lyric was at a job on campus with a blues/rock musician, also a fan of Zeppelin. At the time, he credited the lyric to Johnson. *shrug* With how much borrowing of music and lyrics traditionally goes on between blues and jazz musicians I wouldn't be suprised if it is a continuing debate on who originated the lyric. In fact, here we go, a link to a Burnett song featuring the same lyric: the Lemon Song. Go figure. :) Let me know if you find anything enlightening.
Re: Re: squeeze my lemon, baby
exactly ;oD
it's anybodies guess as to the true origin... the label on the LP says Burnett... but that may be a mistake or a guess, or maybe just reflect legal ownership, and not really tell the truth about who wrote the song.
anyway, glad you posted some LZ trivia :o))
