Nice work
This is a great extension from the border you were given -- the only (minor) issue I have is that your left edge simply extends the green and yellow polka dots for nearly its entire length. The landscape has a bit of a contrast issue, since the foreground and background are barely separated, but for a newbquilt this is really good.

the reason i simply copied the top left stuff all the way down was to give it a video game background look.

But it doesn't really matter whether the next person recognizes a shape. If he had done that, there would have been less red and less of the samurai's clothes in the tile, and it wouldn't have been as interesting a composition.
