Ye neglected yer left and top borders! Those who got them had nothing to blend from.

But nobody got them. I studied the quilt and came to the conclusion that my tile was a top corner piece...

True, but one point of tiling is to fill your tile with stuff, no matter where it is on the quilt.

I think if you know for certain that it is a corner of the quilt like this it's okay to not give to the borders. If you do it just makes the quilt seem un-completed cos there are things sticking out the side.
